Valentine’s Warehouse Sale!

January 28, 2010 @ 03:25 PM

TaO Heart Our first warehouse sale was so much fun, we decided to do it again. On Tuesday February 9th, we’ll be opening our doors to anyone who wants to make it a Fair Trade Valentine’s Day. In addition to our new Valentine’s Day products (which will also be up on the site soon), we’ll also have a closeout section full of great products at great prices. These events are a great chance to come in with friends and see our HQ, get some great deals, see products that aren’t available on the website, and hang out with the team.

In addition, this could be a great opportunity for some of you to gently (or not so gently) nudge your significant other to schedule some Valentine’s shopping time. It would be easy enough to forward along this post as a not-so-subtle hint.

So here are the specifics:

Date: Tuesday, February 9th
Times: 10am-2pm and 6pm-9pm
Address: 41829 Albrae St. Suite 102, Fremont, CA (Map here)

Hope to see you there!

Rain, Rain, Go Away…

January 21, 2010 @ 09:04 AM

The Water BoysSome days you get to work, and you can’t believe how effective you are, and it seems like you get a whole day’s work done before noon. Yesterday was not one of those days. We arrived at the warehouse at 7am to find a thin layer of water gracing the floor of parts of of our warehouse. Amazingly (and thanks to some foresight from Mike, who runs our warehouse), none of the products were damaged in any way. The only casualties were a few cardboard boxes.

So it quickly became a game of “who’s got the best idea for removing 70 gallons of water from our warehouse.” Everybody was involved, from Nathan, Stu, Mike, Leo, Kevin, our landlord, our neighbors..it was a family affair. We were bailing, sweeping, jury-rigging a shopvac to empty into a garbage can (didn’t work), and sump pumping it out. The best part was that the founders of Handmade Expressions, dear friends of ours, decided they would surprise us and stop by to see the warehouse for the first time.

All in all I’d say it made for a good Wednesday, and that it was fun to see everybody jump in with a smile to fix a problem.

The Trade as One Winter Sale

January 13, 2010 @ 08:19 AM

SaleOnce a year, we cut some prices so that we can turn around and place large orders to our producers. Our goal is to provide consistent, year-round employment for our partners in the developing world, and the Winter Sale helps us to do just that. As always, our producers were paid in full for their work, we’ve just cut prices for you!

Our Winter Sale section has four main categories: Seasonal, Bags, Jewelry, and Houseware. I’m including an excerpt from the newsletter we just sent out below, so that you can get a peek at some of the items in our Winter Sale Section. If you’d like to sign up for the newsletter, you can do that by entering your email address in the box to the upper right.

Trade as One News: Summer Internships

June 01, 2009 @ 12:36 PM

We’ve begun our first round of interviews with our summer internship applicants, and we’re all pretty excited to get started. We never seem to suffer from a lack of things to do, so it will be great to get some interns in here to help.
So far the quality of the applicants has been superb, and the people we’re interviewing are both talented and passionate. And in light of their many talents, we’re not going to be giving them boring jobs (no one will be making copies or making coffee runs). We’ve got significant projects that will go a long way towards our success this year, and we’re going to trust our interns to run point.
Should be an amazing summer, as our team grows (albeit temporarily) in size and skills. Now if we could only get some A/C in here….

March 17, 2009 @ 09:19 AM

I know, that’s not quite a word. But I wanted to call it a Ware(open)house-warming party, because really, it’s an open house and a housewarming party supersized into a warehouse.
I was unanimously overruled.

But I digress. The point is…Come hang out with us this Saturday! We’re going to have lunch, great friends, and we’re letting all of you in on our plans for 2009. I promise it’ll be a great time.
Here are the details:

41829 Albrae St, Suite 102.
Free lunch.
Invite your friends.
RSVP here so we have enough food for you.
